NIKSUN’s Award Winning NetDetector/NetVCR 2005 Receives Common Criteria Certification

NIKSUN NetDetector / NetVCR 2005, the world’s first full function Forensics, Intrusion / Anomaly Detection, Network Monitoring solution, receives Common Criteria Certification recognized by NIAP

Monmouth Junction, New Jersey, March 31, 2005- NIKSUN, INC., the world leader in network security and performance monitoring solutions, today announced that it has become the first vendor for its forensics, compliance, intrusion / anomaly detection and proactive network monitoring solutions to receive Common Criteria (CC) certification effective March 3, 2005 for its NetDetector® / NetVCR® 2005 solutions.

CC certification has become a critical requirement for government agencies worldwide to purchase and use security and monitoring products in their classified and unclassified networks. NetDetector / NetVCR 2005 is the only solution in the industry that provides a full range of security capabilities as well as network monitoring capabilities that has been awarded the certification.

EWA Canada, Ltd. (www.ewa-canada.com), under the oversight of the Communications Security Establishment (CSE), is the accredited independent testing lab that conducted the evaluation of NetDetector / NetVCR 2005.

The CC for IT Security Evaluation, also known as ISO standard 15408, represents the outcome of efforts to develop globally recognized criteria for evaluation of IT security products. Developed by national security coordinators in the United States, Canada and Europe, it provides assurance that commercial and nationally sensitive government-use IT security products meet vendor claims. Following a successful evaluation conducted by an accredited Common Criteria evaluation laboratory - under the oversight of a national-level certification body - the product is added to the Certified Products List at CSE, NIAP and the international Common Criteria Portal.  Twenty countries worldwide are now members of the Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement, which means they recognize the certification awarded to NetDetector / NetVCR 2005.

The CC certification enables products to comply with the U.S. National Information Assurance Acquisition Policy, or NSTISSP No. 11, which requires security product vendors to undergo rigorous testing and analysis to ensure their products meet strict guidelines and will not compromise national security.  Departments and agencies within the Executive Branch of the U.S. government are not allowed to purchase Information Assurance products that do not meet these guidelines.  As a result of this CC certification, NetDetector / NetVCR 2005 is the first solution of its kind in the industry approved for purchase for use in national security systems.

“Common Criteria certification ensures that NetDetector / NetVCR 2005 have been stringently tested to one of the highest security standards in the world,” said Dr. Parag Pruthi, Chairman and CEO of NIKSUN. “This certificate provides our customers in the Department of Defense, government as well as the commercial sectors, with the highest degree of confidence in the solutions they count upon daily to protect their infrastructure and critical information sources.”

“The Common Criteria certification of the NetDetector / NetVCR technology is an important step for NIKSUN in demonstrating their commitment to security for their product,” said Erin Connor, Director of the CC evaluation lab at EWA-Canada.  “We are pleased for NIKSUN’s customers in that they can be confident that NIKSUN has made a long-term commitment to provide a product that has been certified to strict security requirements based on international standards.  Customers that buy NetDetector/NetVCR 2005 can be assured that it will be a trusted addition to their network security posture.”

The Certification Report associated with the Certificate of Product Evaluation will be posted on the CSE website under the Canadian Common Criteria Evaluation and Certification Scheme (CCS) Certified Product List at the following URL:
