Dr. Pruthi brings over twenty-five years of expertise in network security, surveillance, data warehousing / mining, and systems performance management.

Deeply committed to his vision of helping businesses and governments realize the potential of the Internet, Dr. Pruthi’s visionary leadership and focus on innovation has guided NIKSUN from a small start-up to a global leader in advanced network analysis and visibility (NAV) solutions. Based upon his doctoral research to model high variability phenomenon in networking, Dr. Pruthi, along with notable colleagues in the industry, developed unique methods of analyzing network traffic. Integrating disparate scientific disciplines such as chaos theory, data warehousing, data mining, parallel processing, and hierarchical distributed computing, Dr. Pruthi expanded his research to develop a revolutionary approach for advanced control of network systems and services ensuring the highest levels of security, performance, and compliance.

Recognized as one of the foremost experts in advanced cyber security technologies, Dr. Pruthi advises on cyber defense strategies with some of the highest levels of governments and enterprises around the world. He is a frequent speaker on cyber security issues which include his speech, Cyber Security Defense Challenges, Trends & State-of-the-Art, to delegates from across 28 NATO nations, agencies, and strategic commands at the NATO Information Assurance Symposium 2010. Dr. Pruthi has published over 30 industry papers and articles including Delivering a Long-Term Vision for Software, part of the critically acclaimed Inside the Minds, a series that provides readers with proven business intelligence from top executives at some of the world's most respected companies.

Prior to founding NIKSUN, Dr. Pruthi was at Bellcore, Telcordia and other research institutions, where he focused on his passion of solving important problems in security, telephony, broadband, and wireless network management. During this period, Dr. Pruthi was instrumental in developing leading edge tools for large-scale collection and analysis of data from production carrier and enterprise networks. He holds 30 patents issued and pending.

Dr. Pruthi holds a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and a Master's in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology. He also has a Doctorate in Telecommunications from The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, where his thesis, "An Application of Chaotic Maps to Packet Traffic Modeling," was the first to apply chaotic and fractal or self-similar systems to accurately model the seemingly erratic nature of network traffic.

Dr. Pruthi is the recipient of IEEE Region 1 Award of Managerial Excellence for his Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Cybersecurity Vision.

 

Zia Saquib
Executive Director, Center for Development of Advanced Computing


Zia Saquib received a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Regional Engineering College- Rourkela (1985), M.S. Degree in Electrical (Communication) Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology, USA (1992) and PhD from National Institute of Technology (2012).

He began his career in 1986 with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Bangalore, where he worked as an Avionics Engineer at Aircraft Design Bureau till 1989.Thereafter he moved to Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Florida Institute of Technology, where he worked at the Opto-Electronics Lab till 1992.

Zia worked at Infotec of Florida as Chief Technical Officer (CTO) where he developed a messaging software infrastructure for service provider segment. In 1998 he founded Scope Technologies Inc., an R&D and Training Company that developed secure messaging software for the enterprise at Orlando, Florida. He was the founder Vice-President of this company.

He returned to India in 2002 & joined C-DAC as Member Technical Staff and soon was designated as Group Coordinator and Chairman of the Management Committee of Advanced Computing Training School (ACTS).

In January 2006 he was elevated to the position of Executive Director, C-DAC Mumbai (and Electronic City- Bangalore) formerly known as NCST.

As Executive Director, he initiated research programmes, notably in scalable software router (based on FoRCES protocol standard of IETF), immunity based intrusion detection, cyber-security for critical infrastructure, level-3 fingerprint biometrics and iSCSi-based storage networking. Some of this work has culminated into transferable technology and is being deployed in projects under National e-Governance Plan of Government of India.

He has also initiated a 6-month full-time post graduate diploma programme in information security with emphasis on modern cryptography and high-speed network security.

 

Dr. Gulshan Rai
Director, Computer Emergency Response Team India (CERT-In)


Dr. Gulshan Rai is M Sc, M Tec and Ph.D in electronics with specializations in communications and information Technology. He has over 25 years of experience in different areas of Information Technology which include Cyber Security, e-Governance, Legal Framework and the Information Technology Act for e-commerce, and several related fields. Dr. Rai has been working since 1998 in the area of evolving legal framework to address issues arising out of cyberspace .He has authored Information Technology Act,2000 and also Amendments therein. At present, he is in the rank of Additional Secretary and currently holding post of Director General CERT-In (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team) and Head of Department of E-Security and Cyber Law Division in the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. Indian Computer Emergency Response Team is an Statutory office. Prior to this he was Executive Director, ERNET India for over 7 years and he was instrumental in setting up of the first large scale education and research network in close collaboration with the leading educational and research institutions in the country. Dr. Rai is particularly focused on developing security capabilities in the country through increased security education programs

KalsiDr. Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi
Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs


Dr. Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi, a 1984 batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), is a professional with wide ranging experience in technology management, Information & Communication Technology, technical education, administration, policy reforms and project management.

Presently he is working as Joint Secretary to Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs at New Delhi. He was looking after the matter relating to the Centre-State relations till 2010. Presently his main responsibilities include management and deployment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), namely CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, Assam Rifles and NSG. He is also responsible for Cyber Security and Information Security as Chief Information Security Officer, MHA and various projects related to Information & Communication Technology in the Ministry of Home Affairs. In his 30 years career as a civil servant, he has handled a variety of challenging assignments like Information Technology, Technical Education and Industrial Training, Education, Science and Technology, Industries, Employment Generation and Vocational Training, etc. besides the assignments as Deputy Commissioner, District Magistrate, ADM and SDM in Punjab.

Dr. Kalsi holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Roorkee, now IIT Roorkee, Master of Technology in Computer Technology from IIT Delhi and obtained his Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Department of Management and Social Sciences, Thapar University, Patiala. Before joining IAS, he served in Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE) and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).

He has worked for the State of Punjab in policy, planning, institutional frameworks, mission-mode projects, especially in the areas of professional education and e-Governance. He always handled the issues like change management, administrative reforms and process reengineering with a fresh citizen oriented thinking in the government. He has envisioned, planned and implemented a number of ICT & Human Resource Development policies & projects.

Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi has played a key role in making Punjab an important Knowledge Industry destination through innovative initiatives in promoting Information Technology, e-Governance and Human Resource Development. He contributed to the ICT Industry initiative of Government of Punjab both as Director cum Secretary, Department of IT and as Managing Director, Punjab Information and Communication Technology Corporation Limited and Chairman of Punjab Venture Capital Fund Ltd. He also remained a member of the Board of Governors IIT Kanpur, Member and All India Board of IT Education, AICTE, Member.

His special contribution in the field of technology in education has been widely acknowledged. The Punjab Technical University was founded during his tenure, under whose aegis more than 100 engineering and management institutions are providing technical education. The major focus of his initiatives has been on Good Governance, technology and providing Services at the door steps of the Citizen.

Santhosh is a IT professional with extensive work experience in IT Infrastructure management and Information Security. Previously he held multiple leadership roles, as the Director of Global Information Risk Management/Information Security/Disaster Recovery and Asia Pacific Leader for IT Infrastructure Services at Cummins, Inc. His specialties are IT Infrastructure management, Information Security leadership, IT shared services management, Offshore vendor management.

Inspector General of Police, State Crime Research Bureau


Purushottam born in year 1964 at Gwalior in MP, he completed his schooling from a government school in year 1979. He has a B.E. (Hons.) from BITS, Pilani and an MBA from Northumbria University New Castle upon Tyne, UK. He joined Indian Police Service soon after graduation in first attempt in year 1986. Presently, he holds the post of IGP SCRB. In this capacity, he is the nodal officer for the critical mission mode project CCTNS. His achievements are authored book on “Transnational Organized Crimes” & “Community Policing in Rewa and authored book on Finger Prints “FINGERPRINTS BIOMETRICS: CRADLE TO COFFIN” also Chairperson of National AFIS Benchmarking Committee, NCRB, New Delhi.

Dr. Peter R. StephensonAmit Sharma
Joint Director, Ministry of Defence

Amit Sharma is currently serving as Joint Director in the Office of the Scientific Advisor of Defence Minister, Defence Research and Development Organization (D.R.D.O), Ministry of Defence, Government of India. He has worked in the field of Information Security, Information warfare, Strategic Information Dissemination Systems, Net Centric Warfare, C4I2SR systems and Secure and survivable networks. He is a Chevening Scholar and has gained his Masters in ‘Global Security’ from Defence College of Management and Technology, UK Defence Academy, United Kingdom. He is a graduate/fellow of US DoD’s Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies, Hawaii US in Comprehensive Response to counter-Terrorism Course. He did his B Tech (honors) in Computer Science and Technology from National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur, India.

 

Dr. Warren CopeRishi Mehta
Senior Vice President & Chief Information Security Officer, Religare


Rishi is a Senior VP & Chief Information Security Officer at Religare. He is responsible for maintaining the information security posture across the Religare group of companies. Before joining Religare, Rishi was working with CitiFinancial India as a Business Information Security Officer and subsequently managed the Operational Risk & Control team. Rishi has worked with GENPACT for over 4 years where he managed diverse IT functions such as IT Sales, Six Sigma Black Belt and IT Operations management.

Shri R. M. Agarwal, DDG(NT) is an Indian Telecommunication Services officer of the 1986 batch and is presently working as Deputy Director General (Networks and Technologies) in the Ministry of Communications & Information Technology. He has also been designated as the Central Coordinating Officer from the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, to coordinate with Government and Industry for transition from IPv4 to IPv6 in the country. He is also driving recently formed India IPv6 Task Force for implementation of IPV6 in India including pilot projects across various sectors. He is a committee member of National Internet Registry(NIR) in India.

He was earlier functioning as DDG (SA) in the Telecommunication Engineering Centre, which is the telecom standardization body of Government of India, where he was responsible for IPV4 to IPV6 policy formulation in the country and IPTV standards. . He was also appointed as Editor in one of the recommendations related to IPTV in ITU-Study Group 12 during that period. He has brought out IPv6 policy document “National IPv6 Deployment Roadmap” for India in July, 2010 and a Compendium on IPv6 activities in march, 2011 .

He has done his post graduation in Electronics from IIT Roorkee and Master in Business administration in Financial management from Indira Gandhi National Open University New Delhi.

Cooper is the Vice President - Information Security and CISO at Vodafone Essar. Security under Cooper is largely managed in-house, with his team taking care of operations, internal and external compliance, projects, and security strategies and policies. Prior to this he was associated with HSBC as an AVP - Information Security.

Mr Ram Narain is an Indian Telecommunication Service (ITS) officer of 1979 batch and presently working as Deputy Director General (Security) DOT, Government of  India. In this capacity he is responsible for formulation of telecom network security policies and coordinating with security agencies on matters related to telecom security. In his 30 years career he has worked in the different functional areas of Telecom viz Network Security, Vigilance, R&D coordination, Planning, Operations & Maintenance, Administration, Project Management, Training, HRD & Career Development.

He possesses Degree in Electrical (Electronics) Engineering and Master in Business Administration (MBA). He is also a Fellow of Institute of Engineers (FIE), India  and Fellow of Institute of Electroncis and Telecommuncation Engineers (FIETE), India. Besides, he is a prolific writer, who has written six books and several articles in the newspapers and magazines of repute. Twelve Management Skills for Success is his latest book published in 2006.

Prof. H. Vincent Poor, DeanDr. Ashutosh Dutta
CTO, Wireless, NIKSUN


Dr. Ashutosh Dutta is a senior member of the IEEE and the ACM. He obtained BS in EE from NIT Rourkela, India, MS in Computer Science from New Jersey Institute of Technology, M. Phil. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University, New York.

Ashutosh currently works as CTO, Wireless at Niksun Innovation Center in Princeton, New Jersey where he is leading the research and development efforts in the area of 4G networks and service oriented networks (SON). Most recently, he worked as a senior scientist and project manager in Telcordia Technology's Applied Research, Piscataway, NJ for 13 years. Prior to joining Telcordia, Ashutosh was the Director of Central Research Facilities at Columbia University, from 1989 to 1997, and worked as a computer engineer with TATAs (Telco), India, from 1985 to 1987. As a senior scientist and project manager at Telcordia Applied Research, Ashutosh has led commercial and government projects as the principal investigator (PI), co-principal investigator (Co-PI) and technical lead. He was recipient of Telcordia CEO awards. As technical director, Ashutosh led the IT operations at Computer Science Department at Columbia University. His research interests include IMS, IPv6, Session control protocols, Streaming multi-media, and Mobile wireless Internet. He currently holds 11 patents and 12 patents pending.

Ashutosh has published more than 80 conference, journal papers, book chapters and IETF drafts in the area of multimedia and mobile networking. He is recipient of Telcordia CEO Awards and Best Paper awards for IEEE EIT 2005, IMSAA 2009 and SAIC. He is the past Chair of IEEE's Princeton / Central Jersey Section and currently serves as the Industry Relations Chair for IEEE Region 1 and IEEE MGA (Membership Geographic Activities), and is the public visibility chair for the IEEE Communication Society. Ashutosh has served as TPC co-chair and general co-chair for IEEE Sarnoff Symposium, IEEE IMSAA and organizing committee member for ACM Multimedia, ACM Mobicom and served as TPC member for many IEEE and ACM conferences. He serves as the associate technical editor for IEEE Communication Magazine. In the past, Ashutosh has given mobility related tutorials in Sarnoff Symposium, Globecom, and WCNC. Ashutosh was awarded 2005 PCJS leadership award, 2009 IEEE Region 1 award, prestigious IEEE MGA award for 2009 and most recently 2010 IEEE-USA Professional Leadership award. He currently serves as the vice chair for GISFI's(Global ICT Standardization Forum for India) Service Oriented Networking (SeON) WG.
