900,000 Attempted Hacks in a Single Day at Jacksonville, FL
After the White House sent a letter to governors of all the states, warning them of the threat of cyberattacks to the nation’s water systems from threat actors in Iran and China, the Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA) in Florida, reported an enormous number of attempted cyberattacks. JEA is the eighth-largest community-owned utility company in the United States and the largest in Florida that serves more than one million Northeast Florida residents with electric, water, sewer, and reclaimed water services.
The local press reported that there have been close to 900,000 attempts in just one day to try and break into JEA computers. Speaking to the press, Brad Krol, Chief Information Officer at JEA, said that computers are constantly trying to hack into utility systems. Read more about this story on our LinkedIn page
