Widespread Outage Across Iowa

Across Iowa, there was a widespread outage on 5/30 which adversely affected internet and landline phone services, including calls to 911 and area hospitals. The outage was extensive, affecting everything from work-from-home employees to bank ATMs, to restaurant credit card machines.

Lumen, which also operates CenturyLink internet, had an internal water pipe break at its facility in Des Moines, which had "diminished" its electrical capacity, according to the Polk County Emergency Management Agency.
