$3 Million Ransom Paid to Hackers of Iranian Banking System

An Iranian firm is reported to have paid at least $3 million in ransom money to stop hackers from releasing sensitive information on account holders from as many as 20 domestic banks in the worst cyberattack the country has seen. The cyberattack forced banks to shut down cash machines across the country.

The Iranian government whose finances are already under duress due to the burden of international sanctions apparently pushed for a deal, however, to date their government has never publicly acknowledged that this cyberattack ever happened. Read more about this story on our LinkedIn page
