Internet Archive Limps Back to Normalcy After Multiple Cyberattacks

After a barrage of cyberattacks, the Internet Archive has attempted to limp back to normalcy on Monday. The Archive, which is dedicated to serving as a main repository of internet history, finally came back online with limited functionality after weeks of harassment by hackers. The organization which preserves the internet as a historical and cultural artifact has taken more than 150 billion snapshots of webpages and uploaded hundreds of thousands of movies, concert recordings, books, and software programs.

In the past few weeks, the Archive has endured at least three attacks. These scathing attacks have led to the breach of tens of millions of users’ usernames and email addresses; the defacing of the website, and a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack.
