Cyber Thieves Access Schneider Electric Through Jira System

French multinational Schneider Electric which has more than 100,000 employees and a reported revenue of $39 billion last year has been hit by a ransomware attack. The cyber thieves stole 40 GB of compressed data and 400,000 lines of user data by accessing Schneider Electric’s Atlassian Jira system. This is its third cyber incident in 18 months.

The company was a listed victim on the Hellcat ransomware variant’s leak site, with attackers demanding a $150,000 ransom in “baguettes,” an obtuse reference to the company’s headquarters being located in France.
