T-Mobile and Other Telecoms Subject to Chinese Cyber Espionage
Continuing the trend of attacks on critical American infrastructure, T-Mobile’s network has been breached as part of a large-scale cyber-espionage campaign by Salt Typhoon, a Chinese state-sponsored hacking group. This is a part of an orchestrated attack targeting major telecom companies in the US, that also included AT&T, Verizon, and Lumen Technologies, and extended to international telecom firms. This is the third telecom provider compromised by Chinese hackers in the last 12 months.
T-Mobile’s track record when it comes to cybersecurity has not been the best. Just last month, it paid a $31.5 million settlement to resolve multiple data breaches that took place over three years. Read more about this story on our LinkedIn page
