Cybersecurity Issue Leaves Empty Shelves at Stop & Shop Before Thanksgiving

Stop & Shop has over 300 locations in five states, including New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Its sister concern Hannaford has 189 locations in states such as Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire. Due to a recent “cybersecurity issue” at the organization, products such as vegetables, produce, milk, cottage cheese, chicken, ground beef, and ground turkey were out of stock at many stores.

The restricted product availability is a result of the ongoing cybersecurity issue which is still being investigated. This matter has affected some stores’ ability to accept debit or gift card payments too. As Stop & Shop is the go-to store for many American homes, regular customers are concerned as Thanksgiving is approaching.

Their parent company Ahold Delhaize, of the Netherlands, had admitted to having a “cybersecurity issue within its U.S. network.” Hannaford’s website was also down over the weekend and on Monday because of the issue. Read more about this story on our LinkedIn page
