1.5 Million At Texas Tech University Hit By Cyber Breach
The Texas Tech University system has suffered a major data breach, with the sensitive information of nearly 1.5 million patients of their health center being compromised.
In their announcement, the university’s Health Science Center (HSC) noted, “The investigation confirmed that a cybersecurity event caused the technology issues, resulting in access to or removal of certain files and folders from the HSCs' network between September 17 and September 29, 2024."
The cyber-attack was claimed by the Interlock ransomware operation, which allegedly stole 2.1 million files totaling 2.6 TB of data. This information now seems to be available on the dark web and allegedly includes SSNs, financial information, medical information, and more. Read more about this story on our LinkedIn page
