Two Hacker Groups Claim Rutherford County Schools,TN Breach

Two ransomware groups have claimed that they have attacked Rutherford County Schools in Tennessee. One of these hackers has also leaked sensitive records. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting Rutherford County Schools with their response to the cybercrime. The district officials are working with cybersecurity specialists on the issue.

The hacker group Black Suit did not upload any screenshots or files to prove they had data but the Rhysida group has leaked information that contains a great deal of sensitive records on students and employees. Inspection of some of the more than 9,000 files in a health records folder uncovered confidential reports on students such as those who were seeking or referred for home study due to physical or psychiatric issues.
