Outages in the Outer Banks, NC

A cell phone and internet service outage has been reported on Hatteras and Ocracoke in the Outer Banks of North Carolina which started on Wednesday. January 19th morning around 11 AM. The 911 service on the islands was said to be impacted and those who needed emergency services or communications were advised to try texting 911, or to go to their nearest fire department or EMS station.

The outage did not affect the power grid, according to Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative but there were multiple reports of outages by cell phone and internet customers who were facing problems from telecom providers like Verizon, Brightspeed, AT&T, and others.
