Slack Outage Affects the Corporate World

The chat platform Slack experienced an outage on 2/26/25 that lasted nearly 10 hours. Remote workers and corporations who depend on Slack faced difficulties collaborating on projects during the workday as they faced problems logging in to converse. The outage was a partial one, as some people and companies were able to use the service without any disturbance, but for those affected the chat platform was inaccessible.

The outage started around 10 AM ET with a few users slowly gaining back access around 1 PM mostly in the mobile app. The desktop app started to recover functionality closer to 3 PM ET. Although the service worked its way back to normalcy during the rest of the day, many were still affected by the outage into the evening.

On its status page, Slack said that data shards in its system were causing the problem. With over 40 million daily users and more than 750,000 organizations subscribed, this was an outage whose repercussions were felt all over the corporate world. Read more about this story on our LinkedIn page
