PA State Education Breach Impacts More Than Half a Million People
The Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA) said that it had experienced a "security incident" around July 6, 2024. The extent of the data impacted from the incident was completed recently which discovered that the data of more than 500,000 people was acquired by an unauthorized user.
The stolen data contained personal information such as date of birth, SSN, driver's license or state ID, bank account details, passport numbers and health insurance information. PSEA said it has worked with cybersecurity professionals and notified law enforcement during the investigation. PSEA is now reviewing its existing policies and training protocols about data protection, as well as enhancing security measures and monitoring tools to reduce the risk of another breach.
