Multiple Healthcare Providers Report Cyber Breach

In recent weeks, multiple healthcare providers - including San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living, Altior Healthcare, and Bassett Healthcare Network - have reported data breaches impacting thousands of individuals. These incidents serve as critical reminders that both external threats like phishing and internal misuse of access can compromise sensitive patient data when cybersecurity defenses are lacking or outdated.

San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living disclosed that a single compromised email account led to the exposure of protected health information (PHI) for over 2,500 individuals. Similarly, Altior Healthcare suffered a months-long email breach triggered by phishing attacks, which exposed clinical and personal details of more than 1,000 patients. Meanwhile, Bassett Healthcare Network confirmed that a former physician improperly accessed and transmitted the PHI of 5,565 individuals, raising serious concerns about their cybersecurity posture and ability to monitor for threats. Though no financial information was stolen in these cases, the sensitive nature of the exposed health data poses real privacy and reputational risks. Read more about this story on our LinkedIn page
