The DNA and ancestry testing company, 23andMe had their users' data stolen by hackers and posted for sale on BreachForum.
The stolen data appears to be a targeted attack on Ashkenazi Jews as the hacker claimed the data posted contained over one million data points about exclusively Ashkenazi Jews. In addition, hundreds of thousands of users of Chinese descent were also targeted.
The hacker is selling 23andMe data profiles for between $1 to $10 and the sample data includes prominent individuals like Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, and Sergey Brin. These profiles include name, sex, birth year, and some additional genetic information. Read more about this story on our LinkedIn page
