Women Political Leaders Targeted in Cyberattack

A new cyberattack campaign that delivers an updated version of the RomCom RAT malware called PEAPOD has been deployed against participants of the Women Political Leaders (WPL) Summit in Brussels, a summit focusing on gender equality and women in politics.

The threat actor, named Void Rabisu, has been using a stealthier backdoor with a new TLS-enforcement technique in the C2 (command and control) communications to make discovery harder. The backdoor's development is still ongoing but experts predict its operators are increasingly focused on top-level cyber espionage that will target all large-scale conferences related to special interest groups.
