Passaic Hospitalist Services in NJ Discovers Breach Months Later
Passaic Hospitalist Services in Paterson and Passaic River Physicians in Wayne, NJ have issued warnings to patients following a data breach involving unauthorized access to their systems. As disclosed in a press release by law firm BakerHostetler, both medical groups began mailing notification letters on Wednesday to individuals potentially affected by the breach. The incident, discovered on September 11th, revealed that unauthorized parties accessed and acquired sensitive patient files between May 22 and May 23. Exposed information may include dates of birth, addresses, diagnosis and treatment details, provider names, dates of service, and health insurance information. Patients with concerns are encouraged to contact 833-397-6797, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
This breach underscores the critical importance of implementing end-to-end cybersecurity measures with 100% visibility into the entire network using a platform like NIKSUN. Healthcare organizations manage vast amounts of sensitive personal data, making them prime targets for cyberattacks. Without comprehensive monitoring and real-time detection capabilities, vulnerabilities can go unnoticed - allowing bad actors to access and exfiltrate data without immediate detection. True cybersecurity resilience comes from having full situational awareness across all systems, ensuring rapid response and containment when threats emerge.
