The State of Maine has recently notified individuals that it was affected by the global cybersecurity incident concerning the file transfer tool, MOVEit earlier in the year. The data breach is estimated to be a massive one and it may have affected nearly all the 1.3 million residents of the entire state of Maine.
According to estimates, over 50% of information from the Maine Department of Health and Human Services was affected, as well as up to 30% of information from the Maine Department of Education. The State of Maine is offering two years of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services to individuals whose Social Security numbers, or taxpayer-identification numbers were involved.
