YouTube TV Goes Down Across Texas

YouTube TV and the main YouTube app experienced a regional outage across Texas this week, disrupting both live TV access and content browsing. YouTube TV users saw black screens across smart TVs, phones, tablets, and web browsers, leaving subscribers unable to access live channels, on-demand programming, or DVR recordings. On the main YouTube app, videos still played once selected, but thumbnails failed to load across Home, Shorts, and the You tab, turning major discovery surfaces into blank grids.

The disruption was especially frustrating because YouTube TV is a premium live TV service costing $82.99 per month under its Base Plan, and customers expect cable-like reliability for live channels, DVR, and major programming. TeamYouTube said reports were coming primarily from Texas and suggested affected users try a mobile hotspot or secondary internet connection, pointing to a possible issue between certain internet providers and Google’s content delivery infrastructure rather than a total YouTube server failure. That distinction matters: regional routing problems, CDN edge failures, DNS issues, ISP peering trouble, app-layer errors, and backend service outages can all look the same to users, but require very different fixes.
